The abandoned houseplant, aka The Sad Plant. Plants on the verge of drying out and being forgotten form the working material of Nellie de Boer (photography) and Yvette van der Does (concept - www.denkbeelden.com).

The focus on plants which nobody seems to care about any longer offers interesting food for thought. The portraits form a counterpoint to the overkill of images we are exposed to daily. In a time in which we are continuously switching between the real and the virtual world, they make contradictory desires tangible. By photographing these plants which are on the verge of drying out, they are preserved as a cyberherbarium, maintenance-free property. The plants in the I have a plant!
